The Afrokids family is very happy to welcome our newest contributor to the brand, Traci Wilson-Kleekamp. She holds a Master’s in Social Studies Education (M.Ed.) and is presently 4th year doctoral student at the MU College of Education and Human Development. She is a graduate of California State University, Long Beach with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism, Public Relations. For over 20 years, she has been a neighborhood and community activist; advocating for community-oriented policing, public parks, transparent and responsive local government and sustainable urban planning. In recent years, she has focused her activism as president of the group Race Matters, Friends, a local non-profit organization focused on social justice advocacy. Finally, in her spare time, she is an avid genealogist and Critical Family Historian who explores local, state, and national historical repositories to help family historians discover more about their African American heritage. She is currently featured on the Missouri State Archives website: African-American Genealogy: Putting Together the Pieces of Your Past: A Five-Part Series with Traci L. Wilson-Kleekamp.
